Genesis 39

Genesis 39

Meanwhile…

The story gets back to Joseph, who seems to be having a great time as a slave. He’s sold to a high-ranking Egyptian official and is so blessed by God (but not enough to be free) that this official, Potiphar, gives him full control over his household.

Unfortunately, Joseph is so blessed by God in manliness that Potiphar’s wife wants a piece if him. Joseph refuses, because being a slave means being loyal to your slaver. Joseph refuses so hard that he runs naked.

Potiphar’s wife then uses the opportunity to show Joseph’s cloths as proof that he tried to rape her. Potiphar throws Joseph in jail.

Where God once again blesses his so much (not enough to be free) that the jailer give Joseph control over the jail.

This story is evidence that God will be nice to him people just enough to make a good story, but not actually nice enough to make them happy. They are his playthings.
