What is it with these men and their sisters? Isaac does the same stupid thing his father did. He told everyone that Rebekah was his sister, but Abimelek noticed him being more that “sister friendly” with her, and freaks out. Isaac, just like his dad, thought everyone would kill him for his wife.

It would really be nice to know the whole deal with this repeating story. Clearly this didn’t happen 3 times to the same family, but it doesn’t make any sense from the context what it relates to, other than God is willing to punish innocent people for falling for lies.

Now for the “Story of the Wells”. Isaac keeps have problems over wells. God blesses him so much that his neighbors are jealous and drive him out. Of course this doesn’t stop a man blessed by God and Abimelek eventually comes crawling back to make a treaty with him.

There are also issues with Esau, marries a couple of Hittites and make life crappy for him mom and dad. Typical loser kids!
