Genesis 23

This is a cute little story of Abraham wanting to bury Sarah, who died at 127 years old.  Loss of your wife is always sad, but she lived a LONG time, so I hope it wasn’t too sad for him.

This story just seems to be a little vignette about Abraham wanting to buy the land to bury Sarah and the Hittites being very happy to just give him whatever land he wants, since they like him so much.  He insists that he pay the fair cost for the land, and doesn’t take any deals or gifts. Lots of bowing and whatnot.

In the end he lays her to rest in a cave in a field of Machpelah, near Mamre, in Canaan.
